It's hideous watching all these powerful people who will never admit to any mistakes - nor show any interest in constructively learning from the information at hand. Faith over Fact! Or is it simply disregard?
Worse they seem incapable of taking the future seriously, nor appreciating that against the forces of nature our incredible achievements are as vulnerable as Mayan Temples.
In any event, here's another character in this campaign of confusion and crazy-making over learning - the economist Richard Tol. Tol already has quite the track record as explained in the links below, recently he's been making a splash with his obsessive attacks on a study that he basically agrees with. Yea, it get's weird over there.
Tol provides us with another example of "the debate" being elevated above "the learning process"
… an economist, never mind that "economists" rarely, if ever, get anything right, {though they do know how to play with statistics and assumptions and numbers}, who has devoted the past year attempting to sully a study surveying scientific publications on various aspects of Anthropogenic Global Warming with an assortment of cheap debate tactics, all of which are thoroughly explained and countered - check out the partial list below.
Tol seems to have no other reason than… fame and fortune and his willingness to encourage continued inattentiveness and inaction towards this global warming reality we have created for our society. Another believer in mucho-blah-blah, as opposed to rational learning and action.
But those are my own opinions.
Now I invite you to look at what the "folks in the know" have to share. This list ends with a complete repost of the SkepticalScience.com article "Resources and links documenting Tol's 24 errors"
