Here we have more data explaining "where the heat is."

Global warming contrarians remind the public that the world has not warmed all that much, if at all, during the past decade or so. But that's the atmosphere. Oceanographers with their thermometers in Earth's biggest reservoir of heat—the world's ocean—report in a paper to be published in Geophysical Research Letters that greenhouse warming has in fact been proceeding apace the past decade, not to mention the past half century.

A Look At HadCRUT4, courtesy of SkepticalScience.com

 To follow up on my previous post regarding Anthony Watt's distortion and misrepresentation of HadCRUT4. . .

and inspired by AB's silly comment in the previous post. . .

I share the following and dedicate this bootleg* for those interested in a better understanding of what went into HadCRUT4 and what it is telling us.

*OK, it's not bootlegged,
John Cook and SkepticalScience.com are happy to share their informative posts, in the hope of reaching all who want to learn.  And I am happy to do my little part to share their valuable information with folks interested in learning.

First Look at HadCRUT4

Posted on SkepticalScience.com April 18, 2012 by dana1981

The UK Met Office Hadley Centre has just released HadCRUT4, which is an update to HadCRUT3 which, as we have known for more than 2 years, has a cool bias.  As discussed by Kevin C, this cool bias is predominantly due to a lack of coverage in the Arctic and other land regions which are warming particularly rapidly.

Morice et al. (2012) explains the changes in HadCRUT4, which incorporates land temperatures from CRUTEM4 (as described by Jones et al. 2012) and sea surface temperatures (SSTs) from HadSST3 (as described by Kennedy et al. 2011 Part 1 and Part 2).
CRUTEM4 has been updated to include more data:

HadCRUT4 WattsUpWithThat manipulating data yet again

 I'd like to share the following post, which I highjacked from
"Another Nail in the Coffin"
... they bust Anthony Watts in another act of broadcasting doctored graphs.  {Business as usual for denialists... sure.  But, for honest people trying to understand what's happening within our climate, it is something that should bother us.

How can we regular folks decide anything when folks some depend on for information, like Anthony Watts, feel free to constantly lie at us?}
